Reaching out to the victims of rocket attacks
No government in the world would be condemned for defending its civilians from rocket attacks, except Israel. For more than ten years the communities of southern Israel have been under repeated attack by rockets fired from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
Israeli civilians have suffered sleepless nights, physical injuries, depression and severe anxiety. They have trouble going back to a normal routine, and have to take anti-depressants on a regular basis. In addition, there is the stress of family finances being in dire straits, because they have had difficulty finding employment. Many businesses have moved out of this area.
The children suffer many things including: sleeping disorders, nightmares, anxiety, regression and having learning difficulties in schools. Younger children go back to the bottle, or to the pacifier, and have extreme difficulty separating from their parents.
“Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; in you I take shelter … Revive me, O Lord, for your name’s sake!
For your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.”
(Psalm 143: 9, 11)
