Festivals CFI plan to attend

“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “when I will send a famine through the land –
not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.” (Amos 8:11)

In these days of concern, upheaval and compromise within UK churches, we need to be people of the Bible. As I travel for CFI through the nation and host Call to Prayer events in the region, I am concerned to hear about churches with very little sound biblical teaching, churches who hear only New Testament sermons, and some churches who even hear quotes from the Koran.  It would seem that there is a rise of liberal thinking and “easy messages” of compromise. We need to pray that there will be a hunger for the word of God and real truth.

In Amos chapter 8 we hear the Lord declare that there will be a time of “famine of hearing the words of the LORD,” and the next verse tells us it will result in the people staggering, searching but not finding it. This could easily describe the days we are living in now.

So we ask you to pray for us at Christian Friends of Israel as we attend a variety of Christian festivals and exhibitions this year. Ask the Lord to produce an abundant harvest at each event. We believe we can pray boldly and in faith that this is the Lord’s heart. Indeed, that through each conversation staff and volunteers have each day, we will share about God’s Kingdom, encourage people in their walk with the Lord, and help them to ‘dig into’ teaching from a Hebraic perspective that warns against Replacement Theology through scriptures like Genesis 12:3 and Romans chapters 9 to 11. This will develop a greater understanding of why Christians should be friends of Israel and stand with the Jewish people and communities in the UK and beyond. One of the results this should produce is a reduction in antisemitism throughout the nation and its churches.

Please pray about these issues, so that CFI are able to help redress the balance at all the festivals and exhibitions we attend this year and that we are a great blessing to many in the churches.

  • Pray for the right members of staff and volunteers to attend the stalls and for all their practical needs.
  • Pray for much fruit from each day, for conversations about the kingdom to be deep and encourage understanding of Israel and our Judaic-Christian heritage.
  • Pray that people will clearly see we want to bless the churches and provide aid and educational opportunities both here and in Israel.
  • Pray that people are open to see Israel from God’s perspective, in the light of Scripture.
  • Pray for divine appointments with pastors and leaders too, so that good connections can be made and we can encourage them and their people in various ways.
  • Pray for attendees to sign-up to receive CFI mailings, and for those who are already supporters to become more involved. Thus we can continue feeding and encouraging them through quarterly mailings complete with articles and teaching.
  • Pray that the resources and free literature displayed at each event will be a blessing to many.
