Israeli Astronaut in Space Walk

Two NASA astronauts, Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, are conducting repairs to the outside of the International Space Station today.

This is the first time in 50 years of spacewalking that a female has floated out of a spacecraft without a male crewmate. Their current job is to fix a broken element of the space station’s solar power equipment.

Israelis are particularly interested because Jessica Meir’s father is Israeli.

The spacewalk is being streamed live on the Internet now – 13:15pm BST – with interesting commentary, explaining what is happening.
