Iranian Response Causes Limited Damage

In retaliation for the Americans killing General Qasem Soleimani, early yesterday morning Iran carried out a ballistic missile attack against air bases in Iraq that are used by US forces.

Around 15 missiles were launched from Iran and struck two air bases in Irbil and Al Asad.

Iranian state television reports claimed that at least 80 “American terrorists” were killed in these attacks, adding that none of the missiles were intercepted.

However, Donald Trump soon tweeted a very different claim, that ‘all is well!’

Iran’s Foreign Minister also took to Twitter, to say that Iran had taken proportionate action under the UN Charter.

It seems that either the Americans were prepared for this response, or that the Iranians deliberately chose to avoid casualties – possibly a mixture of both.

For Donald Trump was able to deliver a very strong press briefing later in the day.

People around the world will be relieved at these developments, especially the people of Israel, who believed that they were in danger of being targeted as the main ally of the US in the Middle East.
