The Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and related threats, today published its report on antisemitic incidents in 2021.
It revealed a total of 2,255 incidents reported around the UK in 2021, which is the highest annual total the CST has ever recorded and is 34 percent higher than the number of incidents reported in 2020.
It is the first time CST has recorded more than 2,000 incidents in a year and is 24 percent higher than the previous record annual total of 1,813 incidents in 2019.
This record figure was driven by the significant spike in anti-Jewish hate reported during and after the violence between Israel and Gaza in the month of May last year.
That two of the last three years include the two highest totals of antisemitic incidents indicates a troubling trend.
