Israel’s New Government Starts Work

Led by Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s new government was sworn in on Thursday 29th December and had its first working day on Sunday 1st January 2023.

Its legislative priorities are reported to be the regulation of settlements in Judea and Samaria (so that they can operate like other Israeli communities), moving the civil administration from inside the defence ministry, and advancing issues of judicial reform to redress what they consider to be the current imbalance of power.

It is also expected to work hard to expand the Abraham Accords, particularly with Saudi Arabia, and to discourage the Americans from reaching a new agreement with Iran over nuclear weapons.
