Protests took place across Israel again on Tuesday 11th July in opposition to the government’s new move on judicial reform in which the Reasonableness Bill passed its first reading. The bill is aimed at removing the ability of the Supreme Court to negate government decisions on the basis of being ‘unreasonable’. There were widespread traffic jams and much disruption of daily life.
In addition, the Palestinian Authority rejected the conditions Israel placed upon an offer of financial support to reduce the risk of its collapse. The authority is known to be in financial difficulties, as well as being extremely unpopular in the Palestinian communities.
