In an interview with Bloomberg published on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about what is "probably the final stop on the legislative push."
"It would probably be about the composition of the committee that picks judges . That’s basically what’s left because other things I think we should not legislate."
That answer has made headlines in Israel the most detailed indication of what Netanyahu will and won’t do when Israel’s Parliament returns from its summer recess.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid tweeted:
‘To say "We’ll make a change to the judicial selection committee and then stop" is like saying, "We’ll erase Israeli democracy entirely, destroy the military, destroy the economy, and then stop."’
