Israel Reveals Huge Terror Tunnel

On Sunday 17th December, the Israel Defence Forces released a video of the largest Hamas terror tunnel they have uncovered so far. It is approximately 4 kilometres long and reaches to within about 400 metres of the Erez crossing into Israel.

The initial section of the tunnel is clearly large enough for vehicles to drive along, indicating the intention to move large numbers of terrorists quickly into positions close to the border with Israel.

The main tunnel is linked to a network of other tunnels featuring sewage systems, electricity, ventilation, a communication network, and rails. While the floor is compacted earth, the walls are built of pre-cast reinforced concrete, and a metal cylinder with 1.5cm thick walls forms the entrance.

Many weapons were found stored in the tunnel, as well as video footage filmed by Hamas that shows a construction vehicle being driven into the tunnel, a temporary warehouse filled with materials for lining the walls, and workers digging the tunnel using power tools.

The size of the tunnel suggests that it took years to build and cost millions of dollars.
