Israeli Christians Face Danger in the North

Tensions are rising in northern Israel after Hezbollah fired more than 50 rockets into the Galilee area over the weekend, and another 30 rockets this morning. The Israel Defence Forces are preparing for a potential war with Hezbollah, which would put the remaining residents in this area on the frontlines.

CBN News reporter Chuck Holton visited a small Maronite Christian village called Jish in the hills near the Lebanese border. A form of daily life continues despite the ongoing risks from the rocket attacks by Hezbollah, which require everyone to be alert, ready to find shelter at short notice.

Chuck interviewed Shadi Khalloul, leader of the Maronite community, who said:

"The Hezbollah today also have drones. They have precision-guided missiles.
They have 80,000 fighters with elite units well-trained in Syria’s civil war,
ten years with Wagner force with Syria, with Iranian forces.
So we know that they are very dangerous because
they have a very radical Islamic Shia ideology."

Nevertheless, these Christians are a faithful community and still gather in their church as usual, one local priest saying:

"We are peaceful people. We pray for peace.
We want peace. We want the war to come to an end.
And we pray for that purpose."
