Good Friday Procession in JerusalemEven with the ongoing war in and around Israel, which has produced greatly increased tensions in the Middle East, hundreds of Christians from different denominations marked Good Friday in Jerusalem today by holding the annual procession along the Via Dolorosa – the Way of Suffering – a cobblestone path through the Old City, which tradition says is the route along which Jesus bore the cross to his crucifixion.
Here is a short video of today’s procession showing the worshippers singing as they made their way between what are referred to as the Stations of the Cross. The procession seems to have passed off peacefully, as did Muslim Friday prayers yesterday, despite the added tensions of the Muslim season of Ramadan.
