New Tent Cities in Gaza

Two new tent cities have appeared in the southern part of the Gaza Strip as the Israel Defence Forces prepare for an offensive against the remaining Hamas battalions in the city of Rafah. More than a million people have been sheltering in and around Rafah for weeks while the Israelis fought terrorists in the central part of the Strip.

Humanitarian organisations and many foreign governments, especially that of the USA, have appealed to Israel not to attack Rafah because of concerns about another humanitarian disaster, potentially larger than anything yet seen in the war with Hamas.

However, the Israelis are clear that they must defeat the remaining Hamas battalions in the Gaza Strip, not just to clear Hamas out in terms of being the governing authority, but also to force the terrorists to free the remaining hostages.
