Israel had been kept waiting for more than a week for Hamas to reply to their "extraordinarily generous" offer within the negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. Then on Sunday afternoon, Hamas fired rockets at the Kerem Shalom Crossing, which was being used for sending humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, killing four soldiers.
Israel’s leaders interpreted that as Hamas’ response and on Monday morning the IDF started to tell Gazan civilians to move out of an area in the east of the city of Rafah, because they would soon start their move against the remaining Hamas battalions in the city.
On Monday evening Hamas surprised everyone by suddenly stating that they had accepted a ceasefire deal. And the news was immediately spread around the world by major news outlets. A BBC News report that was posted on YouTube showed hundreds of Gazan civilians celebrating the news.
But towards the end of this Fox interview with a freelance journalist, he describes how Israeli sources were immediately in touch to say that it was a ploy by Hamas - the deal Hamas had agreed to was not one the one that the Israelis had offered, nor even one that they had seen.
