Among all the worrying, painful, and tragic events that happen during a war, God is at work doing many things – things that don’t often feature in news headlines because they involve individuals or small groups of people.
One such thing is enabling the writing and performing of a song called “Behold the Lamb of God” that is a heart cry coming from pain over a world of evil, injustice, and destruction; recognising that God waits for people to turn to him like a son returning to his father.
Here is the song performed by the Yuval Arts Centre.
As well as enabling the writing of songs, God has drawn many people to pray more than they did before 7th October 2023, either individually or in groups. One example is the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast event called ‘Strengthening Ties with Evangelical Communities’ held in the Knesset on Wednesday.
It drew together almost 400 leaders from 40 different nations to pray for all aspects of the situation, with Israel under attack from five different sets of neighbours to the south, east and north – some of them immediate neighbours, some distant.
And in addition to writing songs and praying, God is prompting more people to study the Bible. Just yesterday, the leader of the One For Israel ministry commented that only 11 years ago most Israelis would have hardly heard the name of Yeshua (Jesus), much less the gospel itself.
Yet since the war began, over 60,000 Israelis a month are subscribing to their gospel channel on YouTube alone. And their Outreach Team is seeing more Israelis than ever proclaim faith and take their next steps as disciples of Yeshua.
Three months ago, there were also reports of God at work in war-torn Gaza. He was said to be pouring his Spirit out upon Palestinians so that they experienced dreams and visions of Jesus, leading hundreds of them to become believers and be baptised.
Amid the ongoing tragedy of war, may God continue to perform his wonderful works!
