Controversy has raged all day about an Israeli strike on a school building in Gaza. Major media organisations like the BBC, ITV and Sky have reported the Hamas claims of more than 70, 80 or 90 killed in buildings said to shelter 6,000 displaced Gazans.
Once again the media have reported Hamas numbers on casualties and their claim that they did not have a command and control centre in that location, despite knowing that Hamas routinely uses civilians as human shields.
Israel replied to the criticisms on X this evening stating that they struck terrorists operating in a Hamas command and control centre embedded inside a mosque in the Al-Taba’een school compound.
A joint intelligence investigation led the Israelis to confirm that at least 19 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were eliminated; and that the strike was carried out using three precise munitions which cannot cause the amount of damage being reported by Hamas.
