Hezbollah Pounds Northern Israel

While there is much focus on the Gaza Strip and the war with Hamas, Hezbollah fired another barrage of 40 rockets from Lebanon into the Western Galilee region overnight on Friday, according to the Israel Defence Forces. Some of the rockets were intercepted but others landed, not causing injuries but causing more damage.

The northern communities in Israel have suffered much, but often been ignored. Since October 8th, Hezbollah has fired more than 6,000 rockets, anti-tank missiles and explosive UAVs at Israel`s northern areas, prompting at least 85,000 Israelis to evacuate their homes and setting fire to more than 21,500 acres of land, much of it forestry reserves.

In recent weeks, hundreds more rockets have been fired, dozens of them shot at the town of Katzrin. The Iron Dome intercepted many, but it is not 100 percent effective. A number of rockets scored direct hits on homes and several people were injured. Eight homes were totally destroyed and another 60 homes suffered damage, whilst still being liveable.
