Northern Israel Braces for War

Following significant setbacks for Hezbollah this week, including a strike on Friday evening that may have killed as many as 17 of the terrorist group’s senior leaders, a massive attack against Israel was planned today. But once again, the Israelis became aware of the plan and mounted a major pre-emptive strike which is reported to have hit around 400 targets, destroying rocket launchers and thousands of rockets.

The increased risk of further attacks by Hezbollah has prompted the Israelis to place new restrictions upon activities in the north of the country, from the city of Haifa up to the border. Gatherings are limited to 30 people outside and 300 people inside, which means events like football matches are cancelled.

This type of restriction is normally the precursor to further military action. Israel’s Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, held a meeting with Israel Defence Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi this evening, along with other senior defence officials, to assess the situation.

This increases greatly the need for prayer, as there are many civilians on both sides of the border, including groups of Christians, who are now in even greater danger than they have been for the last eleven months since Hezbollah started firing missiles at Israel on 8th October 2023.
