Our annual conference on 27th and 28th September featured three fascinating messages from our guest speaker, Steven Notley, Professor and Dean of Religious Studies at Pillar College, USA, and Academic Director of the El-Araj Excavation Project in Israel.
Nearly 100 people attended the Friday evening session to hear Steven describe the process of ‘putting history back together’ through a multi-disciplinary approach to research, and around 130 gathered on Saturday for the other three teaching sessions and an update on the ministry’s activities through the first nine months of 2024.
In his second teaching message, Steven presented an overview of the work he engaged in to discover the ancient city of Bethsaida – home to the disciples Peter, Andrew and Philip. Steven led the project which challenged a previous location around 3 km away from the shore of Galilee and investigated another site much closer, which eventually yielded some very significant discoveries.
Christian Friends of Israel UK’s Chief Executive, Jacob Vince, delivered the other main teaching message on ‘The Line and the Land’, a detailed look at scriptures regarding the royal line from Abraham, through King David and on to Jesus, as well as the promises regarding the land of Israel over the same extensive period of time.
We are very grateful to many volunteers who helped us run the conference, and will provide audio and video products featuring the teaching messages towards the end of October.
