Feast of Tabernacles in War Time

The Jewish Feast of Tabernacles started on Wednesday evening and runs for seven days, followed by an eighth day according to the Bible (Leviticus 23:33-43).

It is a feast at which the Jewish people are commanded to rejoice before the Lord their God. But that is clearly going to be much more difficult than usual this year, with Israel embroiled in the longest war the modern state has faced - now into its thirteenth month.

At CFI UK, we have posted a list of prayer points related to remembering the massacre inflicted upon Israelis on 7th October 2023.

The trauma that the nation experienced on that day, along with the continual rocket and drone attacks they have suffered since then, have caused much suffering and dispute within the nation. The plight of the hostages has been a particular source of division.

So, All Israel News has produced a shorter set of prayer points related to this year’s Feast of Tabernacles (or Sukkot). Featured among them are: healing the rift in Israeli society and building a renewed sense of community.

Another video which gives more background information about the feast was posted recently by Michael Beener from City of Life Ministries. In it he explains that booths (sukkot) go up everywhere in Israel, even in blocks of flats where the balconies are positioned in a way that allows each family to see the sky through the roof of their sukkah.
