As Christian friends of Israel in the UK, we know that we are in a minority, even within the churches. For most churches in this country appear to follow the negative teaching about the Jewish people and Israel that arose among Christians in the Early Church (1st Century to 4th Century).
In response to that, our prayers tend to focus upon the Jewish people and Israel in an attempt to do what we can to redress the bias against them. However, we do not neglect to pray for the people of Gaza, the people of what many call ‘the West Bank’, the people of Lebanon, and the people of Iran – all of whom are dominated by Israel’s enemies.
We carry a particular burden for the young people who have been educated under the governance of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, because they have been indoctrinated from a very early age with hatred towards the Jews in Israel.
The teaching of Jesus recorded in Matthew chapter 5, verses 43 to 45, is most relevant here:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good,
and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
So, we encourage you to join us in praying for all who are caught up in the war. And this prayer video by the All Israel News team is quite helpful in that:
