The Middle East is Severely Shaken

Last week we posed the question, “Is God shaking the Middle East?” This week it has become obvious that the Middle East is being severely shaken with the collapse of the brutal Assad regime in Syria.

Although Iran sent its Foreign Minister to meet President Bashar al Assad last week, neither the Iranians nor the Russians managed to provide sufficient support to prevent rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from achieving a surprisingly successful assault upon the capital city, Damascus, and toppling the government.

Israel has responded quickly by conducting a wave of airstrikes on dangerous military sites in order to prevent advanced weapons falling into the hands of unpredictable jihadists. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have also seized military positions in the Golan Heights that were abandoned by the Syrian Army, to prevent them being occupied by potential enemies.

In the following report by CBN News, Jonathan Conricus, former IDF spokesman and a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for the Defence of Democracies, describes events since the Hamas attack on southern Israel on 7th October 2023 as similar to a series of dominoes that have fallen and finally led to the collapse of the Syrian regime.

He discusses with Gordon Robertson the substantial risks within the new situation, some of which have prompted the Americans to attack 75 different locations in Syria with B-52 bombers and fighter jets.
