Israeli Resilience Under Fire

Shortly after reports of US and UK airstrikes against Houthi terrorists in Yemen, the terrorists claimed this morning that they "successfully hit" Israel’s main airport – Ben-Gurion International – and a power station in Jerusalem.

But the Israelis intercepted one ballistic missile that represented a threat before it reached Israeli territory on Monday evening. Sirens sounded a warning for civilians to seek shelter, and Ben-Gurion International Airport suspended take-offs and landings temporarily during the attack. They resumed within the hour.

It is not clear what happened to the second missile the Houthis claim to have fired.

However, the potential danger became clear today with reports that an outdoor concert was underway at the time of the attack, with 8,000 people in the audience.

With so many people present there was no hope of evacuation, nor enough space for everyone to lie on the ground. The concert-goers were trapped and had no chance of escape if the missile had struck the venue.

But instead of panicking, the crowd broke into a spontaneous outburst of singing a very popular, upbeat song, ‘Tamid Ohev Oti’ – ‘God always loves me!’

That remarkable response was captured on mobile phones by Yael Eckstein and Hilel Fuld, who both posted it on Instagram.

Here is a YouTube version of the song which has closed captions in a variety of languages, including English.
