Yesterday, Christian Friends of Israel UK joined one of the largest demonstrations against antisemitism to have taken place in London in recent years. Somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 people gathered outside Downing Street to highlight the danger and the fear that Jews now feel in the UK after a sequence of attacks upon their communities.
The recent surge in antisemitism started with an attack on the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester on 2nd October 2025 and has continued since then through to the stabbing of two Jewish men in the Golders Green area of north London on 29th April 2026.
Sir Ephraim Mirvis, the Chief Rabbi, told the crowds that the current spread of extremism and hatred in the UK threatens everyone and thus it is a national responsibility to confront it.
Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch drew much applause when she addressed the crowd and said that she stands for a Britain that will always support the Jewish people - a Britain in which Jewish children can go to school without worrying about security.
And that comment acknowledged the plight of the Jewish community that many UK citizens ignore - the need for substantial security measures at Jewish synagogues and schools.

Other politicians also addressed the rally, prompting mixed reactions. They included Pat McFadden of Labour, Richard Tice of Reform, and Ed Davey of the Liberal Democrats.
