Postponed British Museum Lecture Goes AheadTowards the end of May, the British Museum postponed a lecture on ancient Israel and Judah over fears of planned protests. The lecture was scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 28th May but postponed after the museum staff were told that a "significant proportion" of attendees planned to cause disruption.
The museum said the decision was made to "protect the event - not to diminish it" but still faced criticism from groups such as the Campaign Against Antisemitism which claimed that "the antisemitic mob has scored a victory."
However, true to the museum staff’s word, the lecture went ahead online this afternoon, attracting an audience of more than 1,000 people on YouTube, in addition to those who joined on Zoom.
