Christian Friends of Israel UK exists to encourage understanding of the Jewish people and the land of Israel, with particular regard to what the Bible has to say about them; to challenge widespread error regarding the Jewish people, especially anti-Semitic behaviour; and to assist the poor, sick, disabled, aged or otherwise needy people who either live in Israel, or are seeking to move there.

The information people provide is held under the Data Protection Act 1998. We endeavour to take all appropriate measures to protect individuals’ privacy and store personal information securely.

1. DATA PROTECTION STATEMENT

By providing your personal contact details you agree to Christian Friends of Israel UK sending you regular communications that you choose, on the basis of your CONSENT. Occasionally we may also send you a letter by post on the basis of our LEGITIMATE INTERESTS as a charity registered in the UK.

Keeping your data secure is important to us, so we do not make it available to external individuals or organisations. The only exceptions to this are those people who subscribe to the Haverim studies, whose data we share with the Centre for Judaic-Christian Studies in the USA.

2. HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

We collect information each time you contact us; for example, when you sign-up to receive our prayer letters, make a donation, book to attend an event, purchase an item, or send us an email.

Christian Friends of Israel UK does not receive or hold any credit or debit card details for payments made through our website. Those payments are handled separately by Sage Pay.

Any card details provided to us on paper, or over the phone, are destroyed as soon as the payment has been processed, we do not retain such details.

3. WHY WE COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

We collect information about you for the following reasons:

  • To send you our magazines, prayer letters or news updates; as requested.
  • To invite your support in prayer and to enable you to provide financial support.
  • To send you information about our activities and associated events, selecting this kind of information according to your location and the interests you have expressed.
  • To process donations you give us (claiming Gift Aid when appropriate), ensuring that donations are recorded correctly and used for any projects or purpose(s) that you specify.
  • To keep records of your relationship with us; e.g. events you have attended, enquiries or complaints you have made, activities you have supported, resources you have ordered.
  • To improve your experience on our website, in terms of simplifying the ordering of resources and enabling you to review the orders you have placed.
  • Keeping us up to date with your address, interests and contact preferences.

Please tell us if your contact details change, so that we can keep our records up to date.

You can change the way we contact you, or the kind of material we send you, at any time by contacting us by mail, phone or email using the contact details above.

4. WHO SEES YOUR INFORMATION?

The information we collect is used primarily within Christian Friends of Israel UK. We do not pass your personal information to any other organisations or individuals without your express consent. But we do use certain service providers, such as MailChimp and Sage Pay, to help us communicate with you by email and to process donations or orders.

To minimise the risk of unauthorised disclosure, we may use some of your information to verify who you are when you contact us.

5. OUR USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

The information that you give us will be used to for the purposes listed in section 3 above.

Christian Friends of Israel UK uses MailChimp to send regular emails to subscribers. We ask new subscribers to choose which regular emails they wish to receive. If you provide us with your email address separately, we will send you occasional emails as deemed appropriate; for example, when there is a problem with an order you have placed.

We prepare postal mailings internally, without sharing postal addresses with anyone else.

Christian Friends of Israel UK may analyse the information we collect about you so that we can contact you in an appropriate way with information relevant to you.

6. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

We keep information long-term for our own records.

We keep records of any financial transactions made with us for a minimum of seven years. This enables us to meet with accounting requirements and respond to any questions from you that arise during that period. Gift Aid declarations and transactions must be kept for a minimum of 12 years.

VIEWING THE INFORMATION WE HOLD ABOUT YOU

You may request details of all the information Christian Friends of Israel UK hold about you by submitting a written request to our Data Protection Officer at the addresses shown at the beginning of this statement.

WEBSITE AND COOKIES

Cookies used by our website are ‘session cookies’ which are deleted as soon as the user closes their browser. These cookies do not store any personal information but enable customers of our Online Shop to build up a selection of products in their shopping basket. If you turn ‘session cookies’ off you will not be able to purchase items using this site.

We use software to gather data on visits to our website. This may set a cookie, but that does not include any personal information.

YOUTUBE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

We also use 3rd party providers such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube who may make use of cookies in a different way from Christian Friends of Israel UK.

As some of these 3rd party services may be based outside of the UK and the EU they may not fall under the jurisdiction of UK courts.
