Wings of Grace
Author: Heather Mann
Product code: B550
This is a hope-filled story of seemingly impossible intertwined lives set against the backdrop of Europe as it plunges into war.
Nations are angry, young lives are drawn into war. Is there any place for faith? Any meaningful heroism? Is there a God with any purpose?
For some, life is seen as fate; for others it is the belief that ’I am my own destiny’. Some believe that there is no life beyond the grave; many others hope for a better after-life but lack certainty about what lies beyond the grave. Some believe they are here for a purpose and search to find meaning through religion, spirituality and alternative lifestyles.
This story of the Bamber and Quick families is not merely to be read as an historic account of world war 2 but, as the story unfolds, it may also engage the reader to evaluate their own journey of life.
About the Author
Heather Mann
Life-changing events during WW2 greatly impacted my life through my late mother Irene Piper (nee Quick) and I was led to the path where I met the Good Shepherd, my Saviour and Guide.
In God’s providence I was led to be a secondary school teacher of Religious Studies, with it’s core being Christinaity. The 1944 Education Act was a response to wartime demand for a greater role for Christianity in schools, making Christian teaching compulsory. Further, it was in my first teaching post that I met Don Mann, my loving and supportive husband, now present with his Lord.
After 25 years in Education, my life took a devastating turn. I was twice diagnosed with cancer, the secondary one was liver cancer. The experience of knowing personally the Shepherd of Psalm 23 was my strength and peace, even when passing through the shadow of death.
Eighteen years have passed since those stormy cancer years. With a thankful heart I can personally testify to the ongoing faithfulness of Wings of Grace.
